While many people will be talking about election results for various offices in the California June Primary, I wanted to take a moment to congratulate LA County Superior Court Workers. All of our endorsed candidates for LA County Superior Court Judge made it into the top two yesterday, and will go on to the general election. I want to especially congratulate all the union members that took the time to interview the candidates at the union endorsement town hall meeting back in February.

A Ventura County judge temporarily blocked the City of Simi Valley from outsourcing its library services to a private company. SEIU Local 721 first filed the lawsuit in early January of 2012 after the City of Simi Valley improperly voted to withdraw from the Ventura County Library system and create its own municipal library.

SEIU 721 won an Unfair Labor Practice charge against Riverside County, July 15, 2011, when Administrative Law Judge Thomas Allen ruled that the county's "conduct denied SEIU's rights and interfered with the rights of unit members" by violating labor laws and regulations when it imposed terms and conditions of employment and declared impasse during negotiations in July 2009.
